NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Rodeo Austin is tournament style event with qualifying, playoff, and final rounds. Champions will be crowned on Saturday, and Amy Wilson has the latest on who’s leading the way towards the winner’s circle.
In the bareback riding, former RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN Champion Tanner Aus is at the top of the leader board. He was 86.5 points on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s ‘What Happens’. Aus is currently ranked third in the PRCA Bareback World Standings.
In the steer wrestling, two-time NFR qualifier Baylor Roche took over the lead on Tuesday night with a time of 3.5 seconds.
In the team roping at Rodeo Austin, a Texas team took over the lead. Rowdy Rieken on the heading side and Ace Pearce on the heeling side connected for a fast time of 3.8 seconds.
In the saddle bronc riding, Oklahoma cowboy Hardy Braden is in the lead after making an 87 point ride on Rafter G Rodeo’s ‘Charlie’s Angel.’ Braden is currently ranked 5th in the PRCA Saddle Bronc World Standings.
In the tie down roping, eight-time NFR qualifier Justin Maass stopped the clock at 8.2 seconds to tie for the lead in the first round. The other part of that tie is four-time NFR qualifier Cory Solomon, who stopped the clock at 8.2 seconds.
Solomon told us at THE AMERICAN this past February that he had found a new horse that he was excited about. It seems like the two are definitely starting to click.
In the barrel racing, Tillar Murray of Fort Worth, Texas took over the number one spot in the round. She had a time of 15.37 seconds on Tuesday night to move ahead of Tiany Schuster.
Tiany Schuster is sitting second by one-hundredth of a second over Brittany Kelly, who is currently third. Schuster had a time of 15.40 seconds on her horse ‘Show Mance.’
Schuster is continuing to make history as she already has over $75,000 won for the 2017 season. She leads the WPRA barrel racing World Standings and is well on her way to her first NFR appearance.
Ty Wallace is number one in the PRCA bull riding World Standings, and is currently number one in the bull riding at Rodeo Austin. He rode Rocky Mountain Rodeo’s ‘American Blood’ to a big score of 90 points.
