Kyler Hecke, a PhD student at the University of Tennessee, and other researchers are on a mission to save a small fish that calls waterways in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina home. The sickle darter is currently threatened with extinction because of changes to water quality and disruptions in its diet.
