Sen. Ernst: There needs to be more “farm” in the Farm Bill

We are hearing from a lot of lawmakers as they work to hammer out a Farm Bill after securing a year extension.

Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says there needs to be more “farm” in the Farm Bill.

“But having something is better than having absolutely nothing. We’ve bought some time to continue working through a number of issues. If you look at the overall Bill, only about 14-15 percent of what’s being proposed in the Senate Farm Bill is actually farm-related farm programs. The rest of it is focused on food programs and things like climate change.”

Senator Ernst says it is now up to lawmakers to get back to work and make sure they are focusing on the nation’s hardworking farmers and ranchers.
