Sen. Grassley: Next coronavirus aid package to be passed in Senate by Aug. 6

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) says the next coronavirus aid package will make it out of the Senate in early August.

The chamber is expected to recess August 6th through Labor Day. Sen. Chuck Grassley says that negotiations will happen in July, but almost daily someone wants to add another sector to the legislation. He admits that some things are delaying the bill.

“We’re delaying any visible discussion of it, is basically because we want to know how the economy turns around.,” he said. “We ought to have a little more information by then, but I don’t think we’ll have any certainty of how fast it’s turning around, because if it’s turning around a lot we need less CARES, if it turns around slowly we need more CARES.”

There is still money left for states and the PPP and the next bill could reallocate or offer flexibility on how and where those funds can be spent.
