Sen. Moran on Tom Vilsack nomination for Ag Secretary

The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry will hold a hearing to consider the nomination of Tom Vilsack to be the new Secretary of Agriculture.

It will take place next week, Tuesday, February 2nd at 10:30 AM EST.

Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas met with Vilsack this morning to review policy priorities.

Sen. Moran speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the highlights of his and Vilsack’s discussion, if Vilsack is a good choice for the position, and the main issues he hopes Vilsack will address.

“I would expect his confirmation to occur, but that does not mean that we ought not take a moment to get his attention on things that matter to farmers and ranchers across the country. To make sure that the things that are priorities for them are priorities for him...,” the Senator states. “The conversation was a lot about trying to make certain that the Secretary is an advocate for agriculture producers.”
