NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) The Senate has confirmed Sonny Perdue as the 31st Secretary of Agriculture. The former Georgia governor will now lead the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). His confirmation was expected, with several lawmakers on both sides of the aisle throwing their support behind Perdue.
The entire industry has been anxiously awaiting his appointment, as the USDA continues to run without a leader from the new administration.
The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) shares what’s next for Perdue.
Dale Moore, AFBF Executive Director of Public Policy said, “I have to believe his top priority will be getting his team in place. Sec has 95K career coworkers. A couple hundred folks that will come on to take on rolls through all missionaries sec has jurisdiction over.”
Perdue’s swearing in ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow and will be followed by a speech at the USDA. RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison will be in attendance. Tune in to Market Day Report tomorrow morning between 9 AM and 2 PM Eastern for full coverage.
