As extreme winter weather continues, shipments of soybeans and grain are being delayed due to snow and ice building up on rail tracks.
Mike Steenhoek, the Executive Director for the Soy Transportation Coalition, speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the impact on railway transportation and inland water systems.
According to Steenhoek, “Product is still moving, but it is just not as efficient as it normally is, and it is important because we still are maintaining a very strong export program for soybeans, corn and other commodities, which is good news... the longevity of these extreme cold temperatures, it really makes the overall infrastructure supply chain less efficient.”
