The Hollenbeck Ranch in Molt, Montana 35 miles outside of Billings has been around for three generations and is now run by Henry and Sara Hollenbeck with help from Henry’s parents Mike and Eva.
On the vast Montana property, there are more than 3,000 sheep and 150 cows, which are cared for by five sheepherders and dozens of guard and herding dogs.
“Running a multi-generational sheep operation, we find it important to continue with business as usual. We are continuing to produce fiber and meat,” Sara said. “Even with unstable markets we provide fiber for our military and American made wool products that we are so proud of.”
As an operation committed to promoting American lamb and wool, they are #stillfarming throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
“While we respect the social distancing and practiced it while shearing, our sheep still had to be shorn as it is vital to our sheep’s health,” Sara said. “Staying home on the ranch is nothing new for us, and staying busy is our normal. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy around the world.”
