Statue of Dolly Parton may be coming to Tennessee’s capitol

After the summer of removing statues, Tennessee lawmakers want to add one at their state capitol. One that we all can get behind.

A lawmaker introduced a bill that would bring a Dolly Parton statue to the capitol. It will stand on the capitol grounds facing the direction of the Ryman Auditorium, but the bill authorizes the public to weigh in on the design.

The bill’s author says that it is to recognize Dolly for all her contributions to Tennessee, her home state.

As someone famously pointed out on Twitter years ago, no matter what divides us, Tennessee has something no other state has, that everyone can agree on-- Dolly Parton.
