A Canadian developer has officially canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline project.
President Biden blocked the company’s permit in January. The pipeline was expected to carry nearly a million barrels of oil a day, from Alberta to Nebraska.
Republican Senators from rural states are angry about the cancellation, saying it costs tens of thousands of high-paying jobs. Environmentalists call it a victory, saying the pipeline would hamper the country’s transition to cleaner fuels.
