From Fires to Floods: An update on California’s largest fire of the year

California’s largest fire of the year is still burning and now it is flooding!

Earlier this week, severe thunderstorms caused significant rainfall around the McKinney fire. Officials say some areas received three inches in just an hour. Those heavy rains helped slow the growth of the fire but caused flooding and mudslides in burned areas.

So far, the McKinney fire has burned more than 58,000 acres, impacting many rural towns, and has only been active for six days.
