T-Mobile’s Hometown Grant initiative has committed $25 million to helping rural communities thrive all across America. The wireless communications network has partnered with the non-profit organizations Main Street America and Smart Growth America to develop the program, which aims “to help build stronger, more prosperous small towns and rural communities.”
Each year for the next five years, the program will award up to 100 small towns (those with 50,000 or fewer residents) up to $50,000 in funding for revitalization projects. The funds can potentially be spent on technology updates or infrastructure upgrades for local libraries, parks, or other community spaces. Civic leaders and community members are invited to submit proposals via T-Mobile’s website.
