Team BUBBA’s Brent Chapman Talks Strategy, Gear, and Passion Ahead of Summit Cup

As we gear up for the big event, Team BUBBA’s Brent Chapman of Kansas joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to talk preparation, teamwork, and the state of competitive bass fishing.

We are just four days away from the Summit Cup — the fourth and final showdown of the thrilling Major League Fishing Team Series.

As we gear up for the big event, Team BUBBA’s Brent Chapman of Kansas joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to talk preparation, teamwork, and the state of competitive bass fishing.

In his interview with RFD-TV News, Chapman reflected on his career highlights, including earning the top Bass Pro Tour title of Angler of the Year (AOY) and ranking among the sport’s top career earners. He shared insights from his time with Major League Fishing and what continues to drive his passion for the sport.

When asked how he prepares for the Summit Cup’s undisclosed fishing location, Chapman explained the first three things he studies when approaching new waters and the one piece of gear he never fishes without.

Chapman also discussed the unique team format of the Summit Cup, noting that fishing alongside pro Wesley Strader on Team Bubba adds a new layer of strategy and camaraderie to the competition.

Outside of the tournament scene, Chapman hosts the popular online series “Pros vs. Joes,” where he competes against everyday anglers. He shared advice for weekend fishermen looking to improve their skills — and even admitted that the “Joes” have given him a run for his money a time or two.

Finally, Chapman talked about his off-water passion: land management for deer, blending his love of the outdoors with conservation and habitat improvement.
