NASHVILLE, TENN. (RFD-TV) — The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is helping connect veterans with resources to pursue careers in farming and agriculture.
Kacey Troup, an agri-tourism business consultant with the state ag department, joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to discuss their new online hub, which provides step-by-step guidance for veterans looking to start or expand an agricultural operation.
In her interview with RFD-TV News, Troup outlined the resources available on the webpage, including permitting guidance, business planning tools, and other support designed to help veterans build careers in agriculture. She also discussed how the hub connects veterans with additional Tennessee agriculture resources and shared examples of how other veterans have successfully transitioned into farming.
Troup also emphasized that while Veterans Day is observed annually, the impact of veterans’ service and their contributions to rural communities is felt year-round.
The Trump Administration’s new rule limiting CDL renewals for immigrant truckers is seeing mixed reactions in agriculture. While some support the change, it is raising concerns about higher freight costs and impacts on U.S. grain export competitiveness.
