One day after Dusty Lynn Thompson was found guilty of cattle theft, the Texas man was sentenced to five years of community supervision and a $5,000 fine.

Thompson, 44, faced as many as 10 years in prison for moving three black cows onto his land from a nearby property.

According to an affidavit, Thompson kept the stolen cattle on his property before moving them to another one of his properties. He allegedly told one neighbor not to say anything about the cows because he planned to butcher them because they looked like they would taste good. He later asked the same neighbor for help butchering the animals.

Thompson was officially arrested on Oct. 28, 2016 and indicted on Dec. 7, 2016.
