The Fertilizer Institute praises the Congressional letter on rail service issues

The president of The Fertilizer Institute is praising the bipartisan support from Congress after members sent a letter to the Surface Transportation Board over poor rail service.

The letter outlined the impact that poor rail service has on the fertilizer industry. Leaders say imposed restrictions along with labor shortages have forced the industry to reduce shipping with increased delays.

More than half of the fertilizer transported in the U.S. is done via railways. 51 lawmakers signed the letter.
