On Wednesday, President Donald Trump presented the National Medal of the Arts to bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs and country music star Toby Keith.
According to the National Endowment of the Arts this is the highest award an artist can receive from the U.S. government. It is presented to those who have given amazing contributions to arts in the U.S. and are deserving of special recognition.
Keith has been a long supporter of the military and performed at President Trump’s 2017 inauguration party. Skaggs has also been vocal about his support for the President.
Last year, the medal went to the musicians of the United State Military, Alison Krauss, Jon Voight, and Sharon Percy Rockefeller.
