The six leading farm and cattle groups in the U.S. recently gathered to review industry concerns, specifically challenges involved in the marketing of finished cattle.
CEO of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Colin Woodall speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the main issues discussed in the meeting, what issues they want to see addressed, and where we go from here.
“This meeting was to talk about the overall market situation and all of the continued issues that we see with the producers not getting their share of that consumer dollar,” Woodall states. “The groups spent an entire day talking through several different issues, but there were three in particular that became consensus action items... that was to promote more capacity... another area where we had consensus was in calling on the Department of Justice to conclude the investigation that they launched over a year ago... and finally we need to reauthorize mandatory price reporting...”
