The number of U.S. tobacco farms has fallen significantly over the years, according to new Ag Census data.
Right now, there are just shy of 3,000 nationwide, which is down from around 57,000 in 2022, a 95 percent drop.
However, their size has grown. The average is around 70 acres compared to just more than seven acres two decades ago.
