Country music artist, Toby Keith, says he is ready to return to the big stage after being diagnosed with cancer.

He revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year. Earlier this year, he was named the BMI Icon Award recipient and was given tributes by some of the greats: Eric Church and Carrie Underwood.

That same month, he performed for the first time since he got the news. It was not the big stage, but he made a surprise appearance at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky before the Breeders Cup, according to Country Music Nation.

During a recent CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown, he revealed he is planning to return to performing.

“I need a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up. It’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we’ll look at something good in the future,” said Keith.

No shows have been scheduled yet.
