President Donald Trump promises a giant fix to the waiver controversy. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s glad the administration is working to make up for the 31 small refinery waiver exemptions the EPA issued earlier this month.
The Senator says the EPA’s action to issue four times as many waivers as previous administrations is a kick in the teeth to American agriculture, but one of the potential fixes should show that the administration is trying to make amends to farmers and the ethanol industry.
Though Grassley says at least for this year, he doesn’t think EPA will be rescinding any waivers. He expects re-allocating waived gallons will improve corn prices, ethanol profitability, and be politically profitable for the President.
