President Donald Trump meets with cabinet members on biofuel.
Sources tell Reuters, Trump met with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. Officials were to present options to boost ethanol demand. Sources say options include reversing up to 8 of the 31 waivers or redistributing waived volumes. The White House declined to comment there’s no confirmation of any decisions at this time.
The National Biodiesel Board and the American Soybean Association request a meeting with President Trump. In a letter to the White House, the groups claim the waivers cost the biodiesel industry $7.5 billion or 2.5 billion gallons. When you add lost ethanol gallons into the mix, the number grows producers of both types of fuel say this cuts into both corn & soybean demand.
