U.S. airlines are backing ethanol groups asking for aviation fuel credit

Several major aviation companies are asking the White House to allow sustainable jet fuel to qualify for federal subsidies.

The companies include major players such as Delta, Southwest, Jet Blue, and Boeing. However, to qualify for subsidies, producers must show that their fuels cut emissions 50 percent over standard fuels. It is why they are joining ethanol companies in asking the Administration to use the Greet Model, which RFA calls the gold standard for analyzing greenhouse gases.

The Treasury is expected to make a final decision sometime next month.
