University of Nebraska-Lincoln Prepares Students for Growing Ag Industry

University of Nebraska-Lincoln highlights hands-on programs preparing students for a wide range of agriculture-related fields

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA (RFD NEWS) --- Universities across the country are working to meet the growing demand for agricultural professionals.

Sue Ellen Peg, the recruitment coordinator for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to share more about the industry opportunities available for students.

In her interview with RFD News, Peg discussed UNL’s College of Ag Sciences and Natural Resources and what makes the program stand out among other schools.

“We’re very unique because we get the opportunity to train students in animal-based majors, plant-based majors, technology-based majors, food science majors, forensic science, and biochemistry majors. We even have a PGA golf management major.” Peg continued, “So we are preparing students for careers in the future in over 20 different career majors.

Peg also spoke about the real-world training the university offers and how it can prepare students to enter the workforce.

“We have lots of hands-on facilities on campus, including golf simulators, animals right in our animal science building, and opportunities to hit some lakes for our environmental and natural resource-based students.” Peg says, “We even have a forensic science crime scene house.”

Students looking for more information about enrollment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln can visit the college’s website.
