Producers along the Gulf Coast tally the damage from Hurricane Laura, which made landfall last week as a Category 4 storm in Louisiana.
The Louisiana Farm Bureau’s Avery Davidson spoke with RFD-TV on the amount of damage the storm caused and the recovery efforts underway for the different crop sectors.

“In Cameron Parish... and Calcasieu Parish... a lot of those bins ended up getting their tops knocked off of them, which is a pretty big deal to begin with,” Davidson said. “But what made it even worse was, in the days following, even as late as yesterday, those areas are still getting rain. So, rain is just going into those bins and getting that entire crop of rice wet.”
