USDA programs can help you recover from last week’s winter storm

Now that much of the nation is warming up from last week’s winter storm, you’re probably starting to take inventory of your losses.

In some cases, the losses have been heartbreaking. We’ve heard stories of ranchers losing dozens upon dozens of newborn calves.

USDA’s Livestock Indemnity Program can help cover some expenses related to your losses. They will also help out with extra forage or feed you had to buy. It will even help with snow removal if your pastures are still covered.

The key is documentation; gather all inventory documents and pictures you took last week. Then call your local FSA office.
