APHIS is looking to get public comment over a proposed rule affecting the equine industry.
They are looking to put a stop to horse soring, which they call a cruel and inhumane practice. They say some owners use it to help exaggerate a horse’s already naturally high gate.
USDA’s Jenny Moffit says by strengthening the Horse Protection Act, they can eliminate soring and improve the welfare of horses while leveling the playing field for competition.
