“Walker, Texas Ranger” star, Clarence Gilyard passes away at 66

Clarence Gilyard, better known for his roles in “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Die Hard,” and “Matlock” passed away at the age of 66.

His fame to Hollywood began in 1981 when he starred in the television show, “Diff’rent Strokes” and later landed his first big movie gig in the 1986 hit “Top Gun,” where he played the role of Marcus “Sundown” Williams.

Years later, he starred in “Walker, Texas Ranger” as James Trivette, who was Chuck Norris’ character’s right-hand man.

After he stepped away from acting, he pursued his masters in theatre at Southern Methodist University, and soon found his new passion of teaching at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

His students called him a “beacon of light.”
