Walmart held a grand opening of its new meat processing facility in Georgia on Friday. It is the world’s largest retailer’s entrance into the beef business.
The 200,000-square-foot processing facility will employ 350 people and will supply Black Angus beef to 500 retail stores in the southeast.
Walmart announced its partnership with 44 Farms, a Cameron, Texas-based seedstock operation in April 2019.
The cattle will be slaughtered in Kansas and packaged in the new Georgia facility. In total, the product line will create 450 new jobs between Kansas and Georgia.
