Tennessee’s state veterinarian issued an alert for domesticated bird owners who also bird hunt as High Pathogenic Avian Influenza works its way across the country in record numbers.
Dr. Samantha Beaty says the risk of wild birds bringing the virus to a flock is extremely high right now and says owners can drastically reduce the risk by avoiding contact with those birds.
Health officials across the country recommend washing your hands before and after interacting with domestic birds and they stress the importance of having a proper biosecurity plan.
