What kind of impact does the poultry industry have on the economy?

Several poultry groups have released a new study highlighting the industry’s impact on jobs, wages, and the economy.

It showed the industry brings in more than 2 million jobs, $125 billion in wages, $555 billion in economic activity, and $33 billion in government revenue.

Leaders at the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association say they are proud of the positive economic impact the industry has on the nation’s food supply. This all comes as more cases of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza were announced this week in several backyard flocks and commercial facilities.
