Wisconsin loses 10 percent of dairy operations in 2019

The State of Wisconsin lost more than 10 percent of its licensed dairy farms in 2019, according to the National Ag Statistics Service.

As of Jan. 1, Wisconsin had 7,292 dairy operations. On Jan. 1, 2019 there were more than 8,100. The loss of 818 farms is up from 691 in 208 and 503 in 2017.

Milk production in the state is down 1.6 percent from Nov. 2018 to Nov. 2019.
