Work requirements aren’t an issue anymore in Farm Bill discussions

A vote in the House could come tonight after the Debt Ceiling Bill narrowly passed the House Rules Committee.

The bipartisan bill squeaked by with one vote. The bill includes more work requirements for SNAP benefits, and ag lawmakers say that is one less thing to be debated in Farm Bill talks.

Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow says her committee will not revisit the topic, and House Ag Committee Chair GT Thompson is not ruling out other SNAP reforms. He says work requirements are no longer an issue.
