SCOTUS will not hear Prop 12 case

The North American Meat Institute says that it is considering alternatives after the Supreme Court dealt it a blow.

Justices refused to take up its case against California’s Prop 12. They gave no reason for the denial.

Prop 12 would apply strict animal housing standards to all products sold in California. NAMI says that it will cost consumers and producers millions of dollars.

The Farm Bureau and NPPC are also suing.

A circuit court heard the case in April and has not issued a ruling yet.
