MARIETTA, Ga. (Farm Monitor) — Farmers markets remain a summer staple across Georgia, giving consumers a chance to buy fresh produce directly from local growers.
Farm Monitor visited the Marietta Square Farmers Market, which started with eight vendors more than two decades ago and has grown to around 70 vendors each Saturday.
Growers say the market gives customers access to freshly harvested produce while also allowing them to learn more about where their food comes from and how it is grown.
Georgia has an estimated 230 farmers markets, according to an August analysis of USDA’s Local Food Portal data.
