Agriculture accounted for a small percentage of greenhouse gas emissions

Regardless of which camp you fall in, new numbers show agriculture’s impact on greenhouse gas emissions.

Data from the USDA shows the ag industry accounted for 11.2 percent of emissions in 2020. It is important to note the actual amount of greenhouse gas emissions is down 29 million metric tons, but the share increased because of changes in other industries.

Industry, transportation, commercial, and residential all contributed more greenhouse gas emissions than agriculture.
