Another California county is considering a ban on some rodeo events. Alameda County will have a hearing next month to consider banning wild cow milking used in ranch rodeoing and the use of spurs, ropes, and straps.
Rodeo supporters say if approved, it threatens the future of rodeos at the local fairgrounds, including the Rowell Ranch Rodeo which is in its 100th year. A similar ban in Los Angeles has come under consideration but has recently stalled.
