Ben Jones, Cooter on “The Dukes of Hazzard,” and former congressman from Georgia, has passed away at the age of 84 due to a massive heart attack.
He was cast in the show in the 1970s and remained part of the show until it was off the air in 1985. He then ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1985, where he won twice and served in the seat for two terms.
“I lost the love of my life today. Ben passed from a massive heart attack,” his wife tells NBC News. “He was home resting in his favorite chair waiting for the Braves to come on and whoop the Yankees. Ben had the most amazing rich full life. He loved and was loved by so many. He will be missed. I loved him so so much.”
