NASHVILLE, TENN. (RFD NEWS) — France is on track to produce one of the lowest amounts of wine in the last 30 years after severe drought and heat have damaged grapes and vines.
France, the world’s second-largest wine producer, was projected to produce 33.9 million hectoliters of wine this year, which equates to 4.5 billion standard bottles. It would be 6% below last year and 17% down from the 2021-2025 average, according to Reuters.
Farmers experienced favorable conditions early in the year, but summer drought coupled with heatwaves reduced yields and damaged vines.
