Breaking Records: Where did last year’s ag exports land and what’s next?

USDA now confirms a record amount of ag exports in 2022.

The department says exports jumped 11 percent, shattering the previous record set in 2021, and the dollar value soared to $196 billion. The Undersecretary for Trade says strong export markets are critical to farmers and ranchers and often make the difference in profitability.

Alexis Taylor says she hopes the momentum will keep.

“Several years ago we saw what trade disruptions or an overreliance on any single market could lead to for trade disruptions, and what that actually translates for those farmers and ranchers and their income.”

USDA hopes to grow markets in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
