Congress will vote on a bill barring excessive fuel prices

Congress is set to vote on a bill this week that could ban “excessive” or “exploitative” fuel prices.

It comes as gas prices reached a new high overnight of $4.48 per gallon. Diesel is at an all-time high of $5.56 per gallon.

The law would stop companies from driving up costs during national energy emergencies declared by the president.

The measure is not expected to get bipartisan support. Analysts predict gas prices will move even higher into the summer.
