Dry weather is inhibiting forage growth for cattle

In Louisiana and across the U.S., beef and dairy producers are feeling the effects of drought during a critical time.

Depending on hay quality, it can cost a producer anywhere from $125 to almost $400 to feed each animal through winter. The LSU AgCenter says that costs will go even higher if ryegrass pastures are not established very soon.
