The University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture’s inaugural “Equine Is For All” event at Spy Coast Farm Equine Education Center opened doors for middle and high school students to explore the fascinating world of the equine industry.

From grooming to basic horse handling, students immersed themselves in hands-on workshops supervised by UK MANRRS members and professional experts.

Exploring the Equine World

The event aimed to provide students with a real-time understanding of the equine industry. Through various workshops and training sessions, participants learned the intricacies of working with horses. The Spy Coast Farm Equine Education Center served as the perfect backdrop for this immersive experience.

For many students, this event served as an introduction to the multifaceted world of equine science and management. The Showmanship Clinic allowed them to witness firsthand the connection between humans and horses, emphasizing the importance of patience and understanding.

Bridging Knowledge & Nurturing Future Passion

Guiding the students through the Showmanship Clinic were members of UK MANRRS, who are also enrolled in equine science and management programs. This unique mentorship provided a valuable learning experience, offering insights into the thought processes behind horse behavior and care.

The organizers expressed their commitment to showcasing the diverse opportunities within the equine sector. By providing a platform for students to interact with horses and learn from industry experts, “Equine Is For All” aimed to ignite a passion for the equine industry from a young age.
