LUBBOCK, Texas (RFD News) — U.S. ethanol and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) exports improved in May, giving corn demand another supportive signal.
U.S. ethanol exports totaled 189.7 million gallons, up 11 percent from April. Canada remained the top destination at 76.3 million gallons, a six-month high. The European Union followed at 39.1 million gallons, led by the Netherlands.
Canada and the European Union accounted for 61 percent of total May ethanol exports. Nigeria, Colombia, Vietnam, and the Philippines were also active buyers, while shipments to Brazil and India remained essentially zero.
Dried distillers grains exports rose 6 percent to 1.08 million metric tons. Mexico was the top destination, followed by South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the European Union. Those five markets accounted for about two-thirds of May exports.
Year-to-date ethanol exports reached 1.00 billion gallons, up 11 percent from last year. Dried distillers grains exports reached 5.06 million metric tons, up 14 percent.
