Grocery chain Kroger, like Costco, will be limiting meat purchases. However, Kroger’s limitations will only be on beef and pork and will only occur in select stores.

“At Kroger, we feel good about our ability to maintain a broad assortment of meat and seafood for our customers because we purchase protein from a diverse network of suppliers,” a Kroger spokesperson told FOX Business. “There is plenty of protein in the supply chain; however, some processors are experiencing challenges. At this time, we’ve added purchase limits only on ground beef and fresh pork.”

This comes as supply chains have suffered because of meat plant closures throughout the country as well as a spike in demand for meat, sales are up about 40 percent in recent weeks.

It is not clear in which parts of the country meat purchases will be limited however news outlets in Cincinnati and Indianapolis have reported their stores will be impacted.
