DERIDDER, La. (RFD News) — The LSU AgCenter is testing soybean varieties across Louisiana to help farmers make more informed planting decisions.
Soybean specialist David Moseley said about 10 varieties are being tested at roughly 10 locations across the state. The trials also give researchers a chance to see how different farming practices affect the crop.
Farmer David Smith said the program provides valuable information for his operation in an area where row crops are less common. He is planting one variety on limited acres this year after it performed well in last year’s trials.
Results will be compiled after harvest to help growers make decisions for next season.
