Mexican lawmakers push for bigger pesticide ban

No GMO imports and limits on pesticides.

Mexican lawmakers are pushing to ban nearly 200 chemicals used in pesticides.
Farmers in the country say that is going too far because, of course, the move would devastate Mexico’s food production.

Glyphosate is already being phased out.

Senate committees are expected to vote in the coming days. The proposed bill would end the use of 183 chemicals in Mexico by 2024, replacing them with bio-inputs and products made from plant or microorganism extracts.
