Minnesota turkey breeder gets hit hard with HPAI

A commercial turkey breeder in Minnesota has been hit with an outbreak of High Path Avian Flu just ahead of Thanksgiving.

The facility is located in the central part of the state. USDA reports nearly 30,000 birds were affected by the outbreak and there is still a control zone around the facility.

So far this year, more than a hundred commercial and backyard flocks have been hit in Minnesota, killing nearly 4 million birds.

Nationwide, 50.4 million birds have died, which is just shy of the 2015 outbreak.
