Cattle experts say drought, inflation, high corn prices, and a strong dollar have created challenges for American ranchers this year into next, but they do see light at the end of the tunnel.
Cattle Fax CEO Randy Block says there are a lot of factors in the market right now that would make trimming the herd a popular choice, but he believes the next year could show some improvement, including a good payday.
He notes recent stability in grain and feed prices could allow producers to make more money down the road. He likens it to 2014 when he saw record-high calf prices, and says we could see those price levels once again.
