Corn in the path of last month’s derecho could still have yield potential.
Brad Hammes, a product specialist with Helena tells Brownfield Ag News most of those crops still had leaves left to develop, giving them the chance to stand back up and continue growing.
Some farmers still have concerns about stalk quality and strength later in the season but it could still turn out to be a good crop if the weather plays along. However, Hammes is expecting a slower harvest in those areas.
